Hi Corin and Nate. I am Gwen's Best Friend, Diane. I just wanted to let you I have been Praying for Gabriele sicne his birth. I have also had a candle perpetually lit between a figurine of St. Gabriel and a Cross. I have also asked my Mother in Law to pass the request on to all she knows as she is very involved in Church and prayer. Even though I don't know your family, I fell as though I have a connection with you all. I am so excited and happy and will continue praying. At some point I would love to come up and see him. All my Love and Prayers to all of you.. Please, Please give Gabriel a big kiss and hug from me.. Love Diane

Glenn Vario November 27, 2006 at 02:50 PM EST

Hi Nate and Corin,

I wanted to write earlier to let you know that I was thinking of Gabriel and family during the surgery. Aidan and I tried to log on this morning to write. I had to get the log-in name from Angela at work then just got a chance to post something now after reading your update. I'm happy to have learned the surgery went well and I wish Gabriel continued success on his (hopefully short) road to recovery and good health! See you in the days ahead. My best, Glenn

Cheryl Carpentieri November 27, 2006 at 05:04 PM EST

Corin, Nate and Gabe, Thank God!!!!!!!! I am so happy for all of you. I was praying so hard along with all of this big family of Gabe's. Gabe has such a support system, every child should have one. Gabe is a strong lil boy, and Corin and Nate, you also are very strong individuals that gave your boy the strength and will to fight this and beat this condition. I'll talk to you soon. I love you all so much and can't wait to see all of you. Love Mom C (gramma)

Kristina Fournier November 27, 2006 at 05:14 PM EST

God gives us children from up above to fill our hearts with joy and love God needs some angels but for what it's worth Your little angel is needed here on earth!!! I am so thankful and happy everything went well for Gabe. Our prayers were definitly heard and our tears were definitly seen from the Heavens. The only tears I have now are tears of joy!! When I got into work this morning, I logged onto this sight. When you updated, and i saw the good news, my eyes watered. i told everyone it was tears of joy. Will he still be heavily sedated until he recovers? When will you be able to hold him, kiss him, touch him, talk to him, ect.... I will continue thinking of you and praying for Gabe to have a quick recovery and I already asked Santa to bring Gabe home for Christmas. God Bless you all. Stay Strong. Get some rest. And We will see you really soon, Love Aunt Ann, Kristina and Kevin.

Angela Vario November 27, 2006 at 11:17 PM EST

I was so happy to hear that everything went well for Gabriel. I was thinking about him this morning, watching the clock and hoping that the surgery was going well. I was waiting for a free minute to call. I had to call from my cell, but couldn't get out of the office (where I could get reception) until later in the afternoon. I hope that he will have a speedy recovery now that everything is back in place. It sounds like the doctors are happy with the way he has responded so far. I hope to be able to visit you guys one night this week, I look foward to seeing the "new" Gabe. Before you know it, this will all be a memory... Take care, I'll give you a call tomorrow. Love, Angela

Angela Vario November 28, 2006 at 02:25 PM EST

I am glad to hear that Gabriel is doing so well! It sounds like things are going much better than could be expected! It is a good sign that he doesn't need meds for his blood pressure- I assume you meant the Dopamine and Dobutamine? I don't think we will visit tonight, the kids are still coughing. If not tommorrow, then Friday or Saturday. I have to take Aidan for his pre-op physical and bloodwork Thursday afternoon. I will give you a call tonight. Give Gabe a kiss for me and tell him I love him and that I am happy he's being a good boy. Talk to you soon! Love, Angela

Karen Strickland November 28, 2006 at 03:41 PM EST

GRANDMA LAURIE WILKINSON November 28, 2006 at 05:34 PM EST

My sweet Grandbaby Gabriel, you were deeply loved from the moment we were told you were conceived! Everyday has been the greatest joy as we take pictures of you growing in your Mommys belly and the pictures of your Proud excited Daddy and Mommy! We were counting down every day the moment that you would come into this world for your 1st birthday!! We were there for your Birthday with great excitement and happiness! When we were told you had some things go on, our hearts struggled with tears for you and there wasn't a second that went by we were not praying for you! Our hearts were with your Loving Daddy and Mommy too! On the 3rd day when we got to first lay eyes on you, my heart filled with deep joy and I was proud of you as I saw you were a fighter with much love and strength! You are our beautiful Miracle Grandchild! Everyone, family and friends pulled together and prayed for you! What added to our circle was that people whom didn't even know you from all over the world began a circle of love and prayer for you!! From China, Australia, Canada, Manila, Philippines, all over the U.S.A, Michigan-Little Rose Ferron Shrine, Pennsylvania-Little Rose Shrine, RI. Little Rose Shrine-Jeff & Rose Myette, Joanne-St.Annes Shrine, Grandpa's school, St. Francis Parish, Christ the King Parish & so many others, Calcutta India (even over St. Mother Theresa's grave!)and many more prayers had begun for you! When you first opened up your eyes, my heart pounded as we looked at eachother for the first time with such great joy and love! When you were operated on, all of us were there for you and your parents, and we prayed much, giving faith you were fighting and trying to be strong and faith that many were interceding for you! I had already placed you under your cousins Bl. Andre, Bl. Dina Belanger, & Sr. Marie Rose Ferron along with 13 others care and asked St. Michael, St. Gabriel, & St. Raphael to be your protectors and guides & I know they were there for you every second of the way! When you came through the operation, I praised God, and thanked all the others for their intercession! Then we cried for joy! We are so proud of you and love you very much! Keep strong and know we are always with you our little Miracle baby! I won't be able to talk to you for a few days because I must go in hospital now and get better myself, now, but know Grandma Laurie Wilkinson is with you even from there! Get better & be strong our precious boy! Love you always, Grandma Wilkinson

Cheryl Carpentieri November 28, 2006 at 05:37 PM EST

When they announce the next light weight champion fighter for the year 2006, We should hear Gabriel's name announced. I knew with the bloodline he has, he would be a fighter. he is going to have to be a fighter if he is going to make to through all our family parties. Nathan, your update messages are the greatest. we can't thank you enough for updating us every changing moment of Gabe's life. the way you tell us of all the news makes it easily understandable and makes us feel we are right there in him room with you all. i wish we could be in the room with you, but our prayers, love, thoughts and hearts are there. Corin, God bless you for giving us such a beautiful great nephew. I don't know what i would have done if my baby was born ill. i just thank God you are a very strong woman. I know you will give Gabe the best of everything. I Know your love for your son is ever so strong. Always remember we are here for you and love you. you are in our prayers, love, thoughts and hearts. We miss you so much and can't wait to look into your Big, Beautiful Brown eyes and tell you how much we love you in person. Keep getting stronger and better every day. I've asked Santa to make you healthy enough to be home for Christmas. So you can celebrate the holyest day of the year with your Family. To all 3 of you, We all love you and hope to see you really soon. you all need to stay strong and rest. Once Gabe goes home, you can forget about resting. Now for my questions. Let's not forget the proud Grandparents Jeanne and Don. I just want to Thank you for keeping us posted. I also want to thank God for you being Strong. We are so very proud of all 3 of you, more than you will ever know or words can ever say for standing with the great courage, strength & faith you have shown! I know it has been deeply hard for you and we wish somehow we could just take that away from you! Gabriel is going to beat this, he has many praying for him with much faith, and is a strong fighter. Like one of your messages here said, he's a fighter and is going to be our little Miracle Champion! Nate & Corin, we are always with you too, anytime you need us we are here, our thoughts are 24/7 with you too. Thank you so much for taking the time to connect with all of us and update us even despite all you are going through. It has been much relief hearing from you rather than wondering all the time before they had internet (smile). I know things must be getting awful tight financially with all your expenses so as soon as I can get our next check, I will do my best to get what I can raise to you to help with your expenses & telephone. Those snacks are not nutritious enough (smile). Anyways, I shall be up tomorrow at about 5pm. Can't wait to see you. Sorry, I couldn't make it today, the pain was a bit much this morning & you know the rest.. Love you always, Dad, Mom, Seth & Lindsey! xoxoxox

Sorry we have not spoken in a while, as you can imagine, things have been busy for us. We are glad to hear Gabriel is doing well, and there is a plan to begin to wean him from the ECMO soon. Things will be much easier for you if you are able to come back to Providence. I wish we could have gotten up there to visit, we miss all of you. Aidan has been a lot of work, but he is doing well. He seems to be experiencing less pain than was expected. Unfortuantely, we have to go through the same thing again in 2 months, and then surgery. It will be a long road for him. Anyways, just wanted to let you know we are thinking about you, and hope to talk to you and see you soon! Love, Angela, Glenn, Noah and Aidan

Forwarded Message: Subj: prayer for Gabriel Date: 12/10/2006 12:36:44 P.M. Eastern Standard Time From: Aunt Winnie To: Karajohn

Dear Lord we thank you so much for all the blessings you have given us. We thank you now for little Gabriel. He is your precious creation Lord. We are blessed because Lord, we know that you keep this precious little one in the palm of Your hand where he is safe and secure. We know Lord, that You know all that is going on inside his little body. Lord we pray that there be healing inside this little one and that all be made right and new and that as he continues to grow in love and grace that he will always know the God that healed him. Lord we also pray for wisdom for all the doctors and nurses that attend him during this time. Grant that they may see what needs to be done or not done. Lord we know that You are our Healer. We thank You now Lord for the healing of this precious little Gabriel. We ask this all in the precious name of Your son , our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You God.

It's great to hear his lung is getting better and hopefully, he'll soon be coming off the ECMO machine. I can't wait until he can come home or at least back to RI. My friends at work and at Kristina's work are praying for him every day. Some people have told me they are going to LaSallette and will light a candel and pray for him. There are so many people that love you guys. We miss you so much. I heard Corin took ill and had to go to the emergency room. Corin, please take care of yourself. Get some rest and make sure you are eating and drinking. I don't know what I can do from this end, but if there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to call and ask. All I do is pray for him everyday and I don't feel I am doing enough. Please give him a big hug and wet and noisy kiss for us. Love you all, Aunt Annn, Kevin and Kristina.

GRANDMA LAURIE WILKINSON December 13, 2006 at 08:29 PM EST

Hello my 3 babies, hope all is well- How is our little Gabriel handling today? I wish I could be there, but am very ill from last trip and havent recovered yet. Will be up there soon within next few days! I can't stand being so far away from you- I feel so helpless. Thank God for this site, atleast we can get connected with you and learn what's the latest news! There's a special page on carepages where they ask what have you done to be a "Santa" this year, well, I couldn't put down anything for me because of my limitations, but I put down the many "Santas" and "Angels" story of all the people all over the world who have given us the best Xmas present ever praying for our Little Gabriel. I can't wait to make the "Angel" ornaments with each of their names on it to give to you and little Gabriel so he knows just how many people care for him and are pulling for him! Well, don't want to take up so much space as I have in past, but I had to post the letters from others that you are receiving! Miss & love you always, Mom, Dad, & Seth & LIndsey xoxoxoxo

Dear Laurie, I have just got all the photos of baby Gabriel. he reminds me of when karl was born with all the tubes in and out of him. Im glad that he is improving. He looks a big baby so that will help him recover from everything. How is mum and dad doing. Hope Corin is looking after herself and thinking of herself, i know its hard to but she has to keep up her strength for Gabriel as he will need her when he is getting better and better. Its hard to do. So How are you doing? I hope you are feeling better well you would be with being a grandma. How was your operation. I hope things went well and that you are on the road to recovery. You have to now as you have that little boy to look forward to and to love and cuddle. Well keep me updated on him and yourself. Take care Love Susan

Hugs and prayers for you and all your family Becky Oehmen December 13, 2006 at 09:22 AM EST Dear Laurie, I want to extend a hand and a heart to you across the miles. I will keep sweet Gabriel and the entire family in my prayers. Babies are so strong and such good fighters! We watch and learn from them. They have the ability to teach us grownups so very much without uttering a single word! I know you and your family will be blessed by Gabriel. All my very best

GRANDMA LAURIE WILKINSON December 19, 2006 at 01:18 AM EST

I know Gabe is having a few bad days, but he is clearly a fighter, and as long as he is, then that is all that matters, right! Dont you two worry with all that technical medical talk as there is so much more to healing than just what they understand medically as there is much they don't understand or can predict, and we can't forget Faith and Strength and Spirit come into play way beyond Dr's medical help! Those things have come into play too many times to be able to count and are well-documented by families where Dr's were baffled! You know Little Gabriel has his bad days and then good days, so try not to let all that "technical talk" get to you as your baby is showing you he wants to fight and beat this and He will! Close your ears if you have to to what Dr's are unfortunately limited to being able to give and focus on faith and GAbe regaining his strength! The Dr's are wonderful with him but they are not God, so let God do the rest! He's a strong amazing boy who made it to his 1st month birthday! Happy Birthday Gabe! We love you always, Dad, Mom, Seth & Lindsey

Hush Little Gabriel,
Now don't you cry,
We're all loving you,
and standing nearby.
Close your little brown eyes,
and get plenty of rest,
draw from our strength,
Just be our little guest!
There are many who LOVE YOU!
Whom love you very dear!
No matter where we are,
We all hold you very near!
Sleep sweet Little Baby Gabriel,
Angels guard you night and day,
For you, everyone pulled together,
24/7 and agreed to pray.
Hush Little Baby Gabriel,
Now don't you move or play,
We have plenty of time,
to catch up that precious way!
We can't wait to hold you,
so many things are planned,
All you have to do is get better,
so we can hold your hand.
Happy Birthday Little Gabriel,
We welcome you to the FAMILY!
We're all standing beside you,
You're a part of us for eternity!
Can you feel the love and power?
Every second that we have sent?
To heal, comfort, and love you!
For our circle you are meant!!
Hush Little Baby Gabriel,
Now don't you even cry,
We're ALL LOVING YOU!
And standing 24/7 nearby!

Diane Cyr December 21, 2006 at 09:17 AM EST

Hi Corin and Nate :) Just wanted to let you both know that although I haven't posted for some time, I have still been praying for ALL of you, along with the candle I lit for Gabriel since his birth. I also lit a candle at LaSalette Saturday night. I talk to Auntie Gwen every day and she has been keeping me abreast on everything that isn't posted. It must be hard to keep posting after working all day and visiting Gabe and dealing with all that you both have had to deal with. Everyone must be beyond exhausted. I was so excited and relieved to hear the good news about the surgery. What a strong little boy. I'm not sure if you folks know the meaning of Gabriel's name biblically, but for sure he has the perfect name. It means Strength Of God. I so want to meet all of you but I'm hesitant to take my car that far. Gwen has mentioned going to visit either if Gabe gets transferred back to Providence or when you all come home which ever comes first. I wish you ALL peace, faith , love and health. I will continue praying as well as all my friends and family. All My Love, Diane P.S. My daughter, Nichole (11yrs.) sends her love and prayers to ALL of you as well :)

Sharon Bell December 21, 2006 at 09:41 AM EST

I wish we could have stayed longer but Dad had to get back early for work next morn & Lindsay for school. Hope you had a peaceful night last night! I will try to call you tonight or tomorrow when I feel a bit better. I love you 3!!! We all do! Love Mom, Dad, Seth & Lindsay

Ann Fournier December 23, 2006 at 01:41 PM EST

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say hi and let you know you are thought of every moment of my day. The other day in work, we had a raffle, and someone gave me a ticket. Although i had already put about 6 tickets in for this "special prize", I never expected what would happen. I put Gabe's name on the ticket my friend gave me. I went around all the prizes on the table and said out loud "I wonder what Gabe would like". then I said "the Moose basket", so I threw his ticket in the bag for the Moose basket. I never would have thought I would win such a great prize. but much to my surprize and happiness, I won the Moose basket. Well, here's to you my lucky charm, you are going to be getting a suffed moose for Christmas. I was upset when i heard how Gabe had to have emergency surgery, but I am so happy to hear everything went well and he is back on the right track for recovery. You don't realize how much we all miss you. I call Jeanne every so often just to let her know how much we all are thinking of everyone. You are so important to us all. We hope to see you Very soon. Gabe, I see the love in your eyes and I hear your laughter in the future. Please hurry home. We can't wait to tell you in person how much we love you. You are all in our prayers. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Hi Corin & Nate; Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. We had a houseful on Christmas day, as usual, and had to go visit a friend at night. So we were pretty tired. We all missed having you both here but you were in our thoughts!! Praying all goes for Gabe today; he's such a fighter. Hope to get to see him soon. We love you all! Grama Karajohn

Hi Nate, Corin, and Gabe, So glad to hear the great news. We are still thinking of you three all the time and can't wait to see you again. Gabe is a tough guy. We can't wait to see him, hold him, and spoil him. It was nice to see you for the holidays. Corin. I have a lot of admiration for you. You finally got to hold him. It was just a tease, but there will be plenty more holding and cuddling in the NEAR future. Keep us posted and let us know if there is ANYTHING you need. Love. Aunt Michelle, Uncle Gary and kids
